The network currently comprises around 1,100 UNESCO Chairs and 50 UNITWIN Networks operating in 130 countries. Its members support UNESCO\u2019s objectives in the fields of education, the natural and social sciences, culture and communication by helping to identify emerging challenges, develop international standards and implement policy recommendations at the national level. It currently brings together more than 20 leading universities, academic and research institutions, planning agencies and independent experts specialising in urban heritage.
