Dr Joanna Sanetra-Szeliga<\/a> participated in the annual conference of cultural economists, which this time took place in Rotterdam at Erasmus University (23rd International Conference on Cultural Economics, 27-27 June 2025), where she presented a paper entitled Participation in culture as an element of building well-being<\/i>. Statistical analysis of EU-SILC data for Poland.<\/i>Based on a large, representative sample of over 40,000 respondents (European Union Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC) survey conducted in Poland in 2022), the author examines whether engagement in cultural activities \u2013 such as going to the cinema, attending live performances, visiting cultural sites, creating artistic works, and reading books\u2014correlates with various dimensions of subjective well-being, including happiness, life satisfaction, optimism, sense of purpose, perceived health, time management, and feelings of loneliness or social exclusion. Using non-parametric tests, correlation analyses and multiple regression models (including interaction effects with socio-demographic factors), the study found that participation in cultural life, especially in passive forms such as going to the cinema, visiting cultural sites, and reading books, is positively associated with higher levels of well-being and reduced feelings of loneliness and social exclusion. The results highlight the moderating influence of age, financial situation, and relationship status on the strength of these associations. They also suggest that participation in cultural life can serve as a valuable source of personal well-being and social cohesion, providing insights relevant to both academic discourse and public cultural policy. The study also calls for greater attention to be paid to the accessibility of cultural activities, especially for older people and socially vulnerable groups, in order to maximise the social benefits of engagement in cultural life.<\/div>\n

At the same conference, Dr Sanetra-Szeliga was also a co-author of the paper Creativity in Film Production \u2013 the role of creative film producer \u2013 the case of Poland<\/i>, in which, together with her colleagues from the project Film market in the times of digital, green and social transformation \u2013 models of change<\/i>\u00a0(co-financed by the FENG 2021\u20132027 programme, Proof of Concept and coordinated by the Jagiellonian University), she analysed the emergence of a new profession in Polish cinematography: the creative producer.<\/div>\n

On 18\u201321 June, Dr Joanna Sanetra-Szeliga participated in an international conference in Lisbon: Discovering \/ Uncovering. Navigating the complexities of screen media. The NECS 2025 Conference, during which she presented a paper entitled Mapping film policy responses toward platformisation of the film market in Poland<\/i>\u00a0. It was based on the results of research conducted as part of the project Film market in the times of digital, green and social transformation \u2013 models of change <\/i>(co-financed by the FENG 2021\u20132027 programme, Proof of Concept and coordinated by the Jagiellonian University). Key points of discussion included the impact of the AVMSD Directive, which allows Member States to implement national regulations on the promotion of European audiovisual works across Europe, such as ensuring a minimum 30% share of European works, ensuring visibility and determining financial contributions. The study aimed to provide strategic insights and evidence on the platformisation of the Polish film market and to provide information useful for developing more effective policies and strategies for this sector.<\/div>\n
