Dr. Piotr Miodunka Awarded Habilitation and Promoted to the Position of KUE Professor

We are pleased to announce a significant development within the Department of Economic and Social History and the Institute of Spatial Management and Urban Studies at the Krakow University of Economics (KUE). Dr. Piotr Miodunka has been awarded the degree of doktor habilitowany (habilitation) in the humanities, specializing in history.

The basis for the habilitation proceedings was his monograph titled „Chłopi południowej Małopolski wobec kryzysów żywnościowych od XVII do połowy XIX wieku” [Peasants of Southern Lesser Poland and Food Crises from the 17th to the Mid-19th Century] (Kraków, 2024).    The habilitation colloquium took place on September 8, 2026, at the Jagiellonian University, and on September 18, the Jagiellonian University’s Council for the Discipline of History adopted a resolution conferring the habilitation degree. Both the monograph and the candidate’s overall academic achievements received high praise and excellent evaluations from the reviewers and members of the habilitation committee.

Following these developments, the Rector of KUE, Dr. hab. Bernard Ziębicki, Prof. KUE, decided to promote Dr. hab. Piotr Miodunka to the position of University Professor.

We extend our sincere congratulations to Dr. hab. Piotr Miodunka and wish him continued academic success!
