UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Programme
The UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Programme is a global platform for academic cooperation, established by UNESCO in 1992 to strengthen international partnerships between universities. The network currently comprises around 1,100 UNESCO Chairs and 50 UNITWIN Networks operating in 130 countries. Its members support UNESCO’s objectives in the fields of education, the natural and social sciences, culture and communication by helping to identify emerging challenges, develop international standards and implement policy recommendations at the national level. The Programme also fosters collaboration between academia, public authorities, civil society organisations and local communities, facilitating knowledge exchange and the joint implementation of projects.
HERITOPOLIS. UN-Habitat UNI MetroHub Consortium on Heritage and Metropolis
Heritopolis is an international cooperation platform that brings together cultural heritage and metropolitan development to support sustainable urban transformation. The initiative operates as an open partnership within the UN-Habitat University Network Initiative (UNI), specifically under the UNI MetroHUB. It currently brings together more than 20 leading universities, academic and research institutions, planning agencies and independent experts specialising in urban heritage. Its partners also include seven UNESCO Chairs, UNESCO Category 2 Centres and a World Heritage Studies programme.
