DR JOANNA SANETRA-SZELIGA

Joanna Sanetra-Szeliga holds a PhD in economics. She is the UNESCO Chair in Heritage and Urban Studie and an assistant professor in the Department of Economic and Social History at the Krakow University of Economics and a consultant at the Statistical Office in Krakow. She has experience working in public administration (Ministry of Culture), the cultural sector (International Cultural Centre), and the non-governmental sector (Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures, European Heritage Hub).

She conducts research on the socio-economic potential of culture and its contemporary challenges related to the triple transformation, as well as the impact of mega-events on historic cities and the resilience of historic cities. She is the author and editor of publications on the links between culture and development, the challenges of artificial intelligence in culture, heritage, and creative industries, cultural policy, and the European Capitals of Culture. She is a member of the UN-Habitat UNI MetroHub Consortium on Heritage and Metropolises (Heritopolis) and a member of the Working Group on National Smart Specializations 12 – Creative Industries at the Ministry of Development and Technology. She is also currently a researcher on a project supported by the EU’s Horizon 2020 program, Navigating AI through Human-Centric Deployment Strategies (HUMAIN).
